a lecture at the biostatistics forum titled "Revealing a
role for phytosphingosine-1-phosphate in regulating
HAP-complex-mediated gene regulation in yeast by an 'integromics'

Epidemiologist Harris Pastides elected 28th president of the University of South Carolina
Harris Pastides, professor of epidemiology in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics and former dean of the Arnold School of Public Health, was elected USC president Friday. He succeeds Andrew Sorensen, another epidemiologist, who became president in in 2002. Pastides served as dean of the University's Arnold School of Public Health from 1998-2003. He was instrumental in helping to secure a $10 million gift from Norman and Gerry Sue Arnold for the naming rights to the school in 2002. The new $22 million Arnold School of Public Health Research Center opened in October 2006.

Robert McKeown is our new department chair
With the experience of a seventeen-years veteran, USC graduate became our new department chair following the departure of John Vena. His academic interests include psychiatric epidemiology, perinatal epidemiology, child and adolescent health, women's health and public health ethics. He also has served as the Arnold School's associate dean for research, associate chair of the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, president of Delta Omega, liaison to the Greenville Hospital System initiative, and director of the Health Sciences Research Core.
